The 1928 Jewelry Company was founded in 1968 by Mel Bernie in Burbank, California. The 23-year-old was a watch salesman by day and a jewelry craftsman in his spare time. The company is also known for making a number of different specialty lines including from The Vatican Library Collection, and the current Downton Abbey Jewellery Collection through exclusive licensing agreements. They also make a private line for Macy’s department stores called 2028.
