Nice example of a decorative Nautilus Porcelain plate. c1894-1911'Founded originally as the Saracen Pottery in the Possilpark area of Glasgow in 1875, this firm began manufacturing a wide range of domestic wares, changing its name to the Possil Pottery Co. in 1895. In 1894 the Nautilus Porcelain Company was formed, producing a range of soft paste porcelain wares influenced by Worcester and Limoges. This company then bought the now bankrupt Possil Pottery Co. in 1896. They continued producing both earthenware and porcelain until the company was forced to close in 1911. In 1918 the works were acquired by Tennants the brewers and produced stoneware bottles and jars until 1948.'It measures 16cms wide and approx. 2cms deep. It shows signs of general wear and tear due to age, and has some scratching on surface. There are some very small chips on the rim and the gilt edging has been worn away. Tried to show any damage etc on photos.Comes from a smoke and pet free home. Thanks for looking and !
